Warranty Overview

CKCA General Guidelines
As a member of the CKCA (Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association), Norelco Cabinets strives to meet or exceed their performance standards which are specific to the cabinet manufacturing industry. These standards apply to cabinet construction methods, material requirements, hardware requirements, structural integrity, coatings performance, and general care guidelines for the homeowner.
According to the CKCA Standards Document (Construction & Material Testing Standards 2017), the following general guidelines for the homeowner should be followed in order to prolong the life and performance of the cabinetry:
“The optimal conditions for kitchen cabinet and vanities for in-use application is at a relative humidity between 45% and 65% at 16°C - 32°C (60°F - 90°F), and EMC (equilibrium moisture content) conditions between 8% and 12%.
Casework shall not be subject to abnormal heat, extreme dryness, humid conditions, sudden changes in temperature, or direct sunlight.
It is recommended that the HVAC system at the location of installation be on and functioning, and the kitchen cabinets and vanities shall be acclimated to these conditions for 72 hours prior to installation.
If these guidelines are not followed, severe damage can result in the cabinets, doors and millwork. The manufacturer of the work shall not be held responsible for any damage that might develop by not adhering to these guidelines. The manufacturer may exclude damage due to the above reasons in the warranty.”

Hinges
Under normal use, the Blum hinges used in Norelco’s products come with a lifetime warranty. The hinges have a maximum optimal range when fully open (typically 110 degrees). In the event that the door is opened beyond the maximum published opening, product failure may occur and is not covered under this warranty.
Drawer Slides
The drawer slides used in Norelco’s products have a static load rating as listed below. Users should be aware that the load rating is established with the weight evenly distributed throughout the drawer. Unevenly distributed weight, and/or improper use of the drawer can result in failure of the drawer slide and is not covered under the warranty.
• Full extension Accuride side-mount slides – 100lbs
• Full extension, soft close, under-mount DTC slides – 88lbs
• Blum MOVENTO full extension, soft close, under-mount slides - 88lbs

Two Year Warranty Details
Stained and Painted Finishes
As with any quality finish, the topcoat will wear with age and use, depending upon the owner’s maintenance of the product. Exposure to abrasive chemicals, solvents, excessive ultraviolet light, and moisture can cause the finish to fail. Due to the variables involved in the maintenance of the finish, the Warranty on this aspect of the product is limited to 2 (two) years from the original date of purchase.
When a 5-piece door is painted, the joints will inevitably telegraph through the painted finish. On some occasions, the joints will open up, thereby developing hairline cracks on the door face. Since these hairline cracks are a normal characteristic of painted finishes on wood parts, they are not considered a defect and therefore not eligible for warranty.
Wood Characteristics
Solids and Veneers: Norelco utilizes both solid and veneered wood materials in its products. Due to normal variations in the density and graining of wood itself, the same stain applied to another piece of the same wood species may result in a somewhat different appearance. This variation can be greater when comparing solid wood to veneers.
Natural Variations: Colour variations are caused by the assortment of minerals found in the earth in which the tree was grown. The level of mineral absorption will vary in a given piece of wood. All wood species will exhibit the following attributes: sap runs, knots and pinholes. These characteristics will naturally occur in varying degrees depending on the type of wood species selected.
Aging: Wood species in all finishes will exhibit colour changes when exposed to light (natural or man-made). It is the general nature of wood to darken over time. This aging process is not hindered by the finishing process.
Warranty Note: This Warranty does not cover the effects of light and aging upon Norelco products, or the natural features and conditions normally characteristic of the wood, finishing, or manufacturing process.
Variations in wood grain pattern and colour are natural characteristics and do not constitute a defective product.
CKCA Door Warp Standards
Doors - Maximum warp - Doors less than 32” (812mm) in height shall have a maximum deflection
of 3/32” (2.5mm). Any door greater than 32” in height shall have a maximum deflection of 3/16” (5mm). Each door style will have a maximum height, as specified in the Norelco Catalog, and the warranty will only cover doors up to that maximum specified height.
Any warp within these tolerances will be considered normal and acceptable, and therefore not covered as a warranty issue.
Doors shall also be installed and aligned so that they are square with the cabinet and can
operate freely without excessive looseness or binding. Installed doors shall have a device
sufficient to hold the door closed.
Cabinet Construction Tolerances
Norelco builds cabinets to a 1/8” increment standard with an allowable dimension tolerance range of +/- 1/16”. This tolerance range applies to cabinetry, doors, and parts. Provided any variance in width, height or depth is within this specified tolerance range, this will be considered normal and acceptable, and therefore not covered as a warranty issue.
Additional Components and Hardware
All other components and hardware (other than Blum)
are warranted by Norelco Cabinets Ltd. for a period of no less than two calendar years from the
date of purchase, with the exception of any normal wear and tear on stained wood countertop
edge.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR CABINETS
Refer to the CKCA General Guidelines section of the warranty for information as the homeowner on best practices to prolong the life of your cabinetry.
Additionally, be aware that prolonged exposure to moisture, be it steam or liquid, is likely to cause irreparable damage to your cabinetry. As such, take care to wipe off any excessive moisture as it occurs, paying particular attention to areas around the sink, dishwasher, stove, kettle, rice cooker, pressure cooker, air fryer, shower and any other areas where high humidity is typical. This will help your cabinetry to age well and function properly for years to come.
General Cleaning Guidelines
- Clean the cabinet as needed with a lint-free cloth dampened with mild soap and water. Dry
immediately with a lint-free cloth.
- Avoid using scouring pads, powdered or citrus based cleansers as these products will scratch and/or penetrate the surface, allowing food or moisture to enter and cause deterioration of the finish.
- Wipe up spills, splatters and water marks as they occur, keeping the surface dry.
- Norelco will not warranty products that have been cleaned with non-recommended products
Thermo Foil Additional Care
Foil cabinet components may be damaged by the heat created during the self-cleaning cycle of
oven ranges. Please remove white foil components (remove drawers and doors) from the
immediate area before using the self-cleaning cycle. Norelco Cabinets cannot be responsible for
any warranty on damages incurred by self-cleaning ranges.
Countertops
Laminate
Keep clean with soap and water. Use a product called Countertop Magic (available at most
hardware stores) to protect your laminate countertop.
Quartz Countertops
Refer to Brand care and maintenance
